Pickleball Court Dimensions & Space Requirements

The first step in building your backyard pickleball court is determining how much space you have — and what size court fits best.

The official pickleball court dimensions for the playing area are 20 feet wide by 44 feet long (20' x 44'). This includes both singles and doubles play.

At Tennessee Pickleball Court Company, our standard court construction package includes a  30' x 60' concrete pad. This larger footprint provides:

  • ✅ Extra space around the court for movement and safety

  • ✅ 8 feet of clearance behind each baseline — perfect for power serves and extended play

  • ✅ A more comfortable and competitive playing experience

Whether you're installing a regulation court or adjusting to fit your backyard, we’ll help you make the most of your available space while meeting official guidelines.

Pickleball Contractors - Constructing Your Court

A Firm Foundation

A strong, stable foundation is essential for any high-quality pickleball court construction. At Tennessee Pickleball Court Company, we specialize in building durable concrete pickleball courts in Nashville and beyond — and it all starts from the ground up.

Our Concrete Court Construction Process:

  1. Site Preparation:
We begin by removing all grass, ground cover, and debris. Then, we grade the area to ensure proper water runoff and drainage.

  2. Excavation & Base Layer:
We excavate to make room for a 4-inch layer of compacted gravel, followed by 4 inches of poured concrete — giving your court the solid base it needs.

  3. Moisture Protection:
A vapor barrier is installed over the gravel to minimize moisture from creeping under the slab, which protects your court from premature damage.

  4. Reinforcement for Durability:
We reinforce the concrete with fiberglass rebar on a 24-inch grid, which enhances structural integrity, reduces surface cracking, and extends the life of your court surfacing and paint.

This method ensures a smooth, level playing surface that holds up to the elements — and your toughest games.
